goodmorning + hello l.a.

Goodmorning everyone and welcome to a new week... I had a lovely, relaxing weekend and an exciting one too, as a friend and I have officially booked a trip to L.A. I'm so excited to travel again and can't wait! We're still working out the details, but we've booked our flight for this April and hoping to stay in Santa Monica, Hollywood, and then maybe over to Malibu. If anyone has any must-have places to visit, do tell! I'm just hoping I can manage L.A. traffic, lol... any tips?

Hope you all have a great week...

Wow LA, how exciting! Have fun!

The first pic and 4th are making me want to try the "exposed brassiere" thing, a la Lady Gaga!

I live in Santa Monica, and you have to have lunch or dinner at Axe on Abbott Kinney in Venice! Let me know what your budget is for hotels, and I'll give you my first picks along the ocean. Also, check out It's a Wrap on Robertson and Pico for wardrobe worn for television and films. Sometimes you can store amazing designer and vintage pieces at really reasonable prices. Make sure you visit the city of Santa Monica's new Annenberg Beach House, right on the beach. Take a bike ride on the beach to the Beach House, and have lunch with your feet in the sand.

Have FUN!!!!

Urth Cafe on Pico & Ocean has great food - a great place to watch for movie stars. The Getty is an amazing museum - its free you just have to pay a parking fee. Great views of the ocean on a clear day. Shopping on Melrose can't be beat - lots of funky stores, vintage finds, and unique items. Have a great time!

I too cannot wait to go! It's too bad we won't be there at the same time -- it would be so fun to meet you :(

My advice? I've been 3 times and I say: rent a large vehicle for safety and do NOT rent a land rover! We did, and my Mom said the blind spots were terrible...go for something with large windows. I will post a few great places (must-sees) on Friday :)

p.s love the pics!

There's tons of really good places to eat along 3rd street by the Beverly center. I recommend Doughboys Cafe! Great food and not too pricey :) Plus there are tons of cool boutiques on the same street so it is a nice place for a walk.

Pasadena is not quite LA but just about and the FLEA market is an absolute MUST! Driving really isn't awful as long as you plan around it and drive only when its reasonable (aka don't touch the 110 between 7am-9:30am or 4pm-6:30pm). Zuma Beach is lovely this time of year. Sometimes you can actually see whales migrating from the cliffs above the beach (the swim close to the shore to feed and can often be seen like 100 yards from the shore). Abbott Kinney and Main Street in Santa Monica/Venice are nice for a morning stroll of shops and breakfast/lunch at one of the many cafes. Feel free to email me if you need anymore suggestions

Love your profile & style!

I was in LA for the first time last year & LOVED it!

One place I would recommend & will defiantly go back to is the Boa Steakhouse in Santa Monica!

I'm envious of your trip as I am stuck here in the freeeeezing UK!!

Enjoy

Hmm...I've been looking for a fabulous red blazer...I haven't considered pinstripe though. Could be an option as it looks fab in this picture!

Thank you so much everyone for your recommendations!! I'm writing everything down and researching every place... i'm still trying to find decent yet inexpensive hotels though... it's so hard to know what's actually good!

I just remembered! A good friend said she stayed in a really chic boutique hotel/B+B - which was really reasonable. I will try to find out more :)

A helicopter flight over L.A. and right by the Hollywood sign! Cali Helicopters has the best prices out there.
