I am loving this outfit channeling a little "after-party" chic, with sequins & sunglasses bundled up in a bright coat, after quite a fun time last night! The party went well with everyone dressed up in their western attire... we had lots of yummy apps, drinks, and dessert... with poker, prizes, a dj and comedian - who of course had to pick me as his assistant, lol. I had to stand behind him and use my arms to make the hand signals appropriate for his story... talk about awkward! It was pretty hilarious though.
Hope you're all having a lovely weekend... i'm taking it easy today watching a movie, and the big Canada - U.S. game... let's hope this Sunday last a little longer that usual :)
This weekend I am headed to a Christmas party - yes, you read that right. Since everyone's schedule's are always so jam-packed in December, my work hosts our Christmas party at the end of every February. Except it of course, isn't Christmas themed. Instead there's a new theme each year, where everyone dresses up (well, almost everyone). In the past i've been to a Speakeasy party (flapper costumes and gangster suits), Crystal Ball (where they had three psychic's and appt's lined up for everyone), and James Bond (gambling tables and all). This year it's the February Fandango - a western-themed affair, lol. Luckily for me I already have a cowgirl costume from last year... now I just have to convince my boyfriend to wear a sheriff badge and guns on his belt. I'm wishing mine were crystal studded like Kate Moss above though...
What are you up to this weekend? Anything exciting or just taking it easy? Thanks for stopping this week, I love reading everyone's comments. Have a good one, and here's a few of this week's links...
It's Friday! Time to celebrate... nothing in particular really, but what better reason to break out some bubbly? Well, after 5pm of course. I can't wait for the day to fly by and the weekend to begin. It's been super busy to say the least, as it seems everyone wants to advertise this past couple of weeks. My work has been go, go, go... not to mention my own projects at home. But luckily, we're all off to a Christmas party this weekend.... more on that later ;)
P.S. Is this not the best Kate Spade ad ever? Simple and chic, with champagne and macarons... what more could you ask for? By the way, if you don't know already, Kate Spade has an amazing collection of books titled Style, Occasions, and Manners. I've had them for years, but each time I read them again I always find new inspiration. I love the Manners one in particular, that boasts proper etiquette in a totally chic and realistic way - plus, the illustrations are amazing! Check them out here or in the fashion section of your local bookstore.

While flipping through Style at Home this evening, I came across these two absolutely gorgeous rooms and for those of you who have been visiting for a while now, you know my love of french decor with a little modern twist. I love how simplistic the bedroom is, with those pretty damask-patterned pillows adding a little bit of colour. And imagine walking into that bathroom as your own little personal ensuite? Ahh to dream... so classic with a marble floor and a beautifully detailed antique piece... *sigh*
I spotted these gorgeous images yesterday from Country Living magazine... I love the french-country chic look. It's so homey and just... beautiful. Makes me want a summer home in the south of France! I love the chunky wooden table with a picnic ready to go and the jug full of fresh flowers... so pretty. And that mirror? Um, wow. My love for ornate mirrors continues...
Speaking of fabulous coats... i'm always on the lookout for the perfect red one. It's so bold! Yet oh-so-chic... I can never seem to come across the perfect shade of red though. What about you? Do you own a red coat?
I love how really tall, long curtains give a great "mansion" type look to a room... like your windows are just so incrediblygrand you need the longest, most dramatic drapes available, lol. It reminds me of an english home on a huge estate or a french chateau tucked away somewhere in the country... with the most perfect canopy bed and elegant antique chairs to match, it's a dreamy look come true...
A month or so ago I bought a sweet, little pair of drop earrings with a deep blue jewel in the middle, surrounded by little green stones – I like to to call them my peacock earrings. The colours are saturated, and a little unexpected. I love when something so tiny is all you need to add to an overall neutral outfit. Loving that same shade of blue here... as shimmering sequins on the shore of a beach, the smooth satin shine of gorgeous feathers, and the richly-coloured fabric of a cozy couch or two. It's such a strong jewel-tone, but not overwhelming – which is always good in my opinion...
My oh my... woke up to a winter wonderland today, which always inspires some super simple white interiors... I love the slightly yellow hue with white in these photos... warming things up a bit. There's nothing quite like an impressive canopy bed though... or a huge ornate mirror topping a fireplace... with details like that, who needs more colour than that?
Wow.. what a day it's been! Busy, busy, and just when I thought spring was around the corner we had a major snowfall. In fact, it's still snowing right now. I was so not prepared in my skinny, little boots... but tomorrow i'll for sure be bundling up! Luckily, I live across the street, so the walk isn't too far... but tonight is one of those nights I wish I had a wood-burning fireplace to cozy right up to while blogging away and working on a special project...
Goodmorning! It's a fresh start to a new week and I couldn't be more pleased with all I got done this past weekend. Always good to check things off the to-do list. How was your weekend? Hope it was wonderful, and looking forward to a new week of fabulous finds and pretty posts in the blogger world.
Have a great Monday! Oh and... who else wants a Hermes bar of soap to bathe with?
Finally, the sun has come out... and if you didn't know any better, it looks like it could be a warm, spring day outside. Can't wait for the weather to thaw so I can shed all the layers of winter clothing! Hope your weekend's going well...
I love when two images from different homes seem to have some kind of connection... like this somewhat playful yet, chic looking kitchen and bedroom with a whimsical, fairytale-like bed. And have I told you how much I love blossoming branches in vase? They just add another element of surprise... a nice pop to the room.
Hopefully this is where i'll be this weekend... in my kitchen, cooking up some new recipes after a trip to the farmer's market this saturday... and sleeping in and relaxing all sunday. It's kind of nice when you don't have any concrete plans, you know? What are you up to this weekend?
Hope you all enjoyed Dress, Design & Decor this week, and thanks for stopping by! Here's a few of this week's finds...
Feeling a little all over the place lately, and seeking serenity in a few simple settings... be it a calming bath, a cozy seat or the smell of fresh linens. This four-day week has felt a little long to me, and can't wait for the weekend to begin. I have a trip to the farmer's market planned, where I can walk around without worry and pick up some fresh produce along the way...
The other day I was flipping through the new February FLARE, only to come across a spread featuring Garance Doré! It's so nice to see an interview with her in one of Canada's favourite fashion magazines. Garance shares all kinds of perfect parisian style tips... which of course, I had to share here!
*Work your assets. In Paris, mother's teach their daughters that you have to show what's good in you, the best part about yourself.
*Details matter. It's not the big things, but the little things that will make you different from everybody.
*Find pieces that have meaning. It's important to buy a few things that have a story and become a part of who you are.
*Make mistakes. Everyone has their off days, but it shows you tried something new.
*Figure out what works for you and stick with it. (Garance says she's drawn to a menswear style. And it suits her!)
*Take notes from the experts (i.e. Paris VOGUE's Carine Roitfeld with her always inspiring style of good and bad taste).
*Find unique jewelry to create a distinct style of your own.
*Invest in top design. Save a little bit to buy that piece you'll really love.
*Look for pieces with versatility. Something that can go from day to night.
And the best advice? "It takes a life to make a style." I think that's pretty true, don't you?

Loving a slightly saturated shade of caramel... it's perfect for a chic, leather jacket or vintage tote, a glamorous bedroom or warm, cozy livingroom, or even a few small accents like a leather belt or bowl of apples. It's somewhat earthy... with a little punch. Especially in the sunlight! Would you wear this shade or decorate your home with it?
