je ne sais quoi...

On a relaxing weekend like this (or even a weekday for that matter), I love this idea for a messy bun, instead of pulling your hair tightly back at first. The above photos and steps speak for themselves it's so easy! And then you have a pretty, parisian look, with a certain laid-back elegance, don't you think? I love it!

Some tips:

- Don't use freshly-washed hair, it's easier to style when you haven't just shampooed.
- 4 - 8 bobby pins will do the trick, you want the bun to feel secure, but look a little loose.
- Pull some strands out from the style to make it look "lived-in".
- Try Aveda Pure Abundance Hair Potion for "second-day" hair texture.

LOVE this! I have like, NO hair, but I think this might work if I use a little volumising mousse! The only thing about winter that I hate though is having not as nice hair bc you have to wear a hat on your way to work...Can't wait for spring to try out this style :)

This made me laugh .. we went outside to walk the dog and it is windy, I did the same bun while standing on the street.
It looks better than when I try to do it neatly in front of a mirror :)

I love the messy bun. I'm a dancer and when my hair was super long, it was always in a messy bun. If only my hair would grow long again!

Ahhh - makes me long for my long hair to be back! Have you ever tried those Spin-Pin things (from Goody)? They work great for a messy bun. I used to use them all the time when I had long hair.

I love this look!! Really effortless but cute looking! I think mine would look a little pathetic because I have like no hair, but I still want to try!

I came across your blog through the Blog of Note. It has already brought delight to my relationship! My fiance has always played around with her hair and has never really discovered the best way to put her hair up and still feel sexy. She saw your post, tried it and is thrilled! The rest of your blog is brilliant and we enjoyed our evening going throught past posts.

Looking forward to following your future postings!

All my best,
