summer moments...

There's something about being right by the water, don't you think? Whether it's a seaside town or lake shore view? I came across these gorgeous shots captured by A Field Journal today, and they totally evoke that feeling of calm and wonderfully fresh air... beautiful photos! I need to head somewhere sandy asap...

I've also been thinking about getting a new camera lately so I can capture more of my own summer moments. I don't think i'm quite ready for the DSLR route, but it would be nice to have a fairly good camera on hand, that's perfect for catching great shots for the blog! Does anyone have any recommendations? I'd appreciate it!

Daniella, such gorgeous photos. Makes me miss Nova Scotia....

I just bought a Canon G12 camera which I love, love, love! Not a DSLR but a great point and shoot with both auto and manual settings and 5x optiocal zoom. It also shoots in raw (DSLR format) as well as jpeg. Great camera!

Happy Friday!

Thanks Amy! I had actually heard about the Canon G12, was thinking of going to check that one out. I like that it's sort of an "inbetween" camera. I think i'll go look later tonight!

There really is something about water... whether in it or just near it, breathing the fresh air... even rain has a soothing element. I'm now going to have to find me some water :)

Absolutely stunning photos!!! You are definitely right about being the water - there is something so special about it - a feeling that is hard capture elsewhere!!

I would go with a SLR camera - I have a Canon and I love it!!! It will change your world!!

i so wish this is the type of water i'll be spending time by this weekend. instead, it's just a bunch of rain. this is just so beautiful.

Beautiful imagery! What a lovely way to start a relaxing weekend...

Im a beginner photographer and lovelovelove my Nikon D7100...totally easy to use and not too bad on the pocket as well...about $600 for body and stock lens...you probably want to go with something in the low range and upgrade as you get more fluent with your shots!

Good luck, can't wait to see what develops!!

I really love my Sony Cybershot. It was affordable. It's simple to use. And it takes incredibly sharp photos. I've never been one to change reality with my photos, so a regular camera is all I really need.

I just bought a Cannon G12 this past February for a trip to Istanbul. It's easy to use as a point and shoot but there are so many more features that you can utilize if you're up for it!
