glitz & glamour...

I've always thought that being an airline stewardess back in the day would have been a pretty glamorous job, dressing in a designer uniform, and jetting off to exotic locals. Airlines used to be so accommodating, offering you a free snack on top of regular meals or an extra blanket and pillow if you needed it. Now the "luxury" of flying seems to be striped down to basics. Do you think that people have gotten so used to little luxuries that companies don't see it necessary anymore? Because I don't know about you, but I used to get pretty excited about a mid-flight snack and free earphones for a movie, lol. It made the flight all the more special! But maybe that's just me?

There's a new show coming this Fall to ABC called "Pan Am" that i'm so excited for! I can't help but look forward to all the glitz, glamour, and drama that i'm sure the show will have. You can watch a little preview here!

Love these images :) Very retro and glamorous indeed. Did they really wear white boots as stewardesses back then?

I totally get what you are saying, even I love the little plastic cup of OJ!
It's such a shame that it all about cheap and cherrful (or not so) now.
These pics are stunning.

You are not alone Daniella, I remember the day and flying was such a thrill. Something to really look forward to and dress up for. Now, it's like 'get it over as fast as possible'! I too am looking forward to Pan Am. I hopes it's a keeper!

Happy weekend ~

What awesome pictures. Could make a really hot Halloween costume idea? I especially love their makeup in these shots.
I loved the post on your mom's bridal book. What an awesome find. I came across a few of my mom's dresses that she made years ago and can't wait to share one of them on my blog.

As a kid I used to love getting my little fun pack (as well as my free packet of cards) from the stewardess. When I was older I loved the little complimentary travel packs they gave out. Now with the cheaper airlines in Australia, you're lucky if you actually get a meal.

I completely agree. I miss the glamour in travel. Now its just basics in tiny seats with no service. Even first class leaves one wanting!

This is so chic, Daniella! I long for days like this, too, and still make an effort to dress up a bit when flying — just for the sheer fun of it. Darn, I wish I had cable to watch this...

OMG Midwest (frontier) airlines used to provide good meals for night flights. I mean very tasty. Though I never liked the lunch meals, it was better than nothing. They are known for their 2 warm chocolate chip cookies that they provide. Fortunately they still do to my knowledge.
